Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Demi Chef to supervise and support specific cooking stations within our kitchen. This role involves overseeing the preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes from assigned sections, ensuring timely and high-quality output. The Demi Chef will also step in to assist station cooks as needed, maintain strict adherence to health and safety standards, and contribute to a positive and efficient kitchen environment. This position requires an individual who is organized, communicative, and dedicated to culinary excellence.

Responsibilities and Duties

* Supervise line or station cooks within a designated production area, such as pizza, pasta, cold kitchen, or pastry. * Communicate orders effectively to station cooks and ensure all assigned menu items are prepared promptly. * Oversee all aspects of preparation, cooking, and plate presentation for their designated station(s). * Provide direct assistance with cooking, preparation, and plating when station chefs are unavailable. * Ensure that all health and food safety regulations are consistently followed within the kitchen. * Assist in identifying and resolving any kitchen-related issues that may arise. * Take responsibility for one or more specific kitchen stations, such as pizza, pasta, cold preparation, frying, or pastry. * Be responsible for a significant portion of food preparation and cooking tasks. * Often participate in end-of-service kitchen cleaning duties. * Adhere to proper food preservation practices, ensuring correct handling and storage temperatures for all food products. * Foster effective communication among staff by promoting a secure and friendly work atmosphere. * Maintain personal hygiene and safety standards, ensuring the correct use of all equipment and utensils. * Demonstrate the ability to manage workload and complete tasks according to deadlines. * Regularly check expiry dates and ensure proper storage of food items within their section. * Collect daily feedback and report any issues as they occur. * Perform any other duties as directed by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

* Proven experience overseeing and supporting a specific kitchen station. * Strong understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, and presentation standards. * Knowledge of and commitment to health and food safety regulations. * Good communication and interpersonal skills to effectively lead and collaborate with the team. * Ability to work efficiently and manage time effectively, meeting deadlines. * Demonstrated responsibility for personal hygiene and the safe use of kitchen equipment. * Ability to identify and report any issues or concerns promptly. * A positive and proactive attitude towards work and teamwork.
