Description
This role is responsible for managing all tax-related matters for a group of companies, ensuring compliance with local and international tax regulations. This includes overseeing tax filings, managing tax audits and queries, handling transfer pricing documentation, providing tax planning advice, and supporting various tax-related projects.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Ensure the timely and accurate filing of all direct and indirect tax returns for the Singaporean group of companies with the relevant tax authority. * Manage all tax inquiries raised by tax authorities, as well as internal tax queries arising from day-to-day operations within the group. * Initiate, manage, and complete the preparation of transfer pricing (TP) documentation for the group, acting as the primary liaison between the TP consultant and the group companies. * Ensure timely and accurate tax provisioning and deferred tax computation within established deadlines for group reporting. * Initiate the renewal process for the Major Exporter Scheme (MES) license before its expiration. * Provide tax leadership and ensure tax governance compliance across the group companies. * Identify and highlight potential tax risks and propose recommendations for improvement. * Standardize tax practices and treatments across the group companies. * Analyze tax issues faced by regional group companies and propose appropriate solutions. * Gather information on tax law changes in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region and assess their impact on the group companies. * Provide support regarding tax risks associated with group reorganizations, offer guidance on risk mitigation, and support merger and acquisition (M&A) activities. * Support regional group companies in tax audits, liaising with local tax consultants and tax authorities as needed. * Monitor transfer pricing risks within group companies and recommend appropriate countermeasures. * Provide sound tax advice and guidance to regional companies as required. * Monitor the effective tax rate within the region and suggest improvements. * Enhance tax awareness and understanding within the region. * Minimize unnecessary withholding tax expenses for the group and propose improvements. * Strengthen the tax network within the APAC region through close collaboration with headquarters and each regional company/country tax manager. * Serve as the main point of contact for all tax-related matters within the group. * Initiate the GST Assisted Self-Help Kit (ASK) assessment for MES license renewal before expiry. * Support headquarters with Master File preparation, Country-by-Country Reporting (CbCR), Pillar Two projects, and other tax projects or inquiries as needed. * Support Australian and New Zealand entities with Hybrid Mismatch compliance matters. * Support headquarters with tax matters related to Japanese Controlled Foreign Corporation (JCFC) rules. * Ensure timely and accurate tax filing in India.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Approximately 10 years of experience in tax, coupled with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. * Demonstrated experience in tax compliance and planning. * Thorough knowledge of relevant tax laws and regulations. * Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. * Strong organizational and management skills.
