The Assistant Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing comprehensive accounting functions in compliance with statutory requirements and company policies. Key duties include supervising a small team, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and managing month/year-end closing activities. The role involves reviewing WIP and debtors' aging reports, handling tax and GST filing, and participating in budgeting and forecasting exercises. The Assistant Finance Manager also leads process improvements, coordinates with external parties for audits and tax matters, and addresses ad-hoc tasks as assigned. Strong leadership, analytical, and organizational skills are essential.
Responsibilities and Duties
Oversee all accounting functions, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, financial regulations, and company policies. Supervise and guide a small team, resolving accounting discrepancies and reviewing their work. Evaluate processes and internal controls, leading initiatives for process automation and improvements. Prepare financial reports and manage month-end and year-end closing activities. Analyze WIP and debtor aging reports to ensure accurate financial tracking. Ensure proper recording of revenue, expenses, and accruals. Support the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts. Manage corporate tax filings, GST submissions, overseas VAT matters, and government statistical reporting. Coordinate with external parties such as auditors, tax agents, and corporate secretaries. Handle ad hoc tasks and projects as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in large, reputable organizations. Experience with Big 4 professional firms is an advantage. Proficient in computer applications, with advanced MS Excel skills required. Experience with MS Access, MS PowerPoint, and Dynamics is a plus. Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Committed to personal development and long-term growth within the company. Effective communicator with strong written and verbal skills, capable of engaging both finance and non-finance teams. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
