Description
The Accounts Assistant is responsible for processing invoices, purchase orders, and payment requests, verifying and reconciling supplier statements, and preparing customer invoices. Key duties include following up on outstanding payments, performing bank reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records. The role also involves assisting with payroll processing, tracking company expenses, and supporting the preparation of financial reports. Additionally, the Accounts Assistant will handle routine administrative tasks, assist with audits, and provide general office management support.
Responsibilities and Duties
Process invoices, purchase orders, and payment requests. Verify and reconcile supplier statements. Prepare and issue customer invoices. Follow up on overdue payments and manage debt collection efforts. Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations, promptly addressing any discrepancies. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and enter data into accounting software. Ensure proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions. Assist with payroll preparation and processing, maintaining records, and ensuring regulatory compliance. Track and reconcile company expenses, ensuring all are authorized and properly documented. Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Provide assistance during audits and financial reviews. Handle routine administrative duties such as filing, answering calls, and responding to emails. Assist with office management tasks as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements
A degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is preferred. Relevant accounting certifications are a plus. At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role is beneficial. Prior experience in an accounting role, preferably within the construction industry, is advantageous. Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel. Strong numerical and analytical skills. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Good organizational and time management abilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations. Knowledge of industry-specific financial practices is a plus.
