Area Controller

Description

The Area Controller acts as a key financial partner to the Global Services Division Management Team, overseeing business performance in Southeast Asia and supporting the principal hub in Singapore. This role focuses on managing sales, gross margins, inventories, foreign currency exposure, and credit risks. The Area Controller will also support the Regional Controller for the Middle East and Asia (MEA) in financial business partnering activities across the MEA region.

Responsibilities and Duties

* Review monthly actual financial results and collaborate with the Finance Shared Services team to ensure accurate revenue and cost recognition in the financial records. * Review vendor invoices within the designated system to confirm correct coding and cost center allocation. * Coordinate the forecasting process for business sales volumes, gross margins, logistics costs, and inventory levels for the principal company, Southeast Asia, and Australia, based on quotation pipeline and order book, in close collaboration with the Principal Controller, Supply Chain Controller, and Regional Controller. * Conduct in-depth analysis of monthly financial and business metrics for assigned countries, comparing performance against targets and historical trends, and providing detailed findings and commentary. * Contribute to maintaining effective internal controls, ensuring corporate governance, and adhering to group policies and local regulations. * Manage the intercompany cost recharging model, providing guidance to the Finance Shared Services Team and local controllers, and overseeing quarterly intercompany reconciliations in conjunction with the Corporate Tax department. * Forecast and analyze financial and business metrics for related service businesses and report key insights to the relevant business teams. * Support the Regional Controller and Regional Management Team with financial business partnering activities for the Asia Pacific and MEA regions as required.

Qualifications and Requirements

* A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, CA) is highly desirable. * Significant experience in financial control, analysis, and reporting, ideally in a multinational or regional context. * Strong understanding of financial reporting standards and internal control frameworks. * Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling. * Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. * Ability to work effectively with remote teams and stakeholders. * Experience with relevant financial systems and software.
