Description
This role is critical for ensuring the financial sustainability and operational effectiveness of the International Blue Carbon Institute (IBCI). The Finance Manager will provide essential financial and administrative support, ensuring sound financial management practices and compliance with all relevant regulations. This position requires a highly organized and analytical individual with strong financial acumen and a commitment to environmental conservation.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Manage the IBCI budget across various divisions, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. * Coordinate financial actions and reporting between different departments involved in the IBCI. * Ensure compliance with all relevant financial policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. * Manage budgeting, reporting, and financial compliance for grants and donor agreements. * Manage annual and ad-hoc budgets, financial modeling, and support fundraising proposal efforts. * Manage workshop and meeting budgets, including travel, logistics, and travel agreements. * Process invoices and payments. * Manage financial risks and ensure the effective and efficient stewardship of financial resources. * Support the execution of grants and contracts, including issuing RFPs, managing consultant and grant agreements, and processing payments. * Report on program performance and measure the achievement of key performance indicators. * Identify and implement strategies to improve program efficiency, effectiveness, and alignment. * Recommend changes to business processes and structures to enhance internal controls and client service. * Set and manage standards related to operational and financial management. * While this position does not have direct supervisory authority, it will provide guidance and support to less-experienced colleagues. * Serve as a subject matter expert on program operations and financial management. * Manage the program and operational budget effectively. * Accountable for managing public or private funds to achieve CI's objectives.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. * Minimum 4-6 years of relevant work experience in finance, accounting, grants management, or administration, preferably within the non-profit sector. * Experience working with international NGOs is highly preferred. * Strong analytical and financial skills, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and grant management. * Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills. Ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences. * Highly familiar with and sensitive to diverse cultures and international protocols. * Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously in a dynamic and global environment. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and financial software. * Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate across departments. * Adaptable to different working systems and able to work independently with minimal supervision. * Willingness to travel occasionally (less than 10%). * Ability to work extended hours when necessary to meet deadlines.
