The Junior Sous Chef will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional dining experiences.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Evaluate menus, analyze recipes, and assess food quality and staffing needs. * Manage kitchen payroll effectively to stay within budgeted labor costs. * Focus on enhancing productivity and efficiently managing utility and payroll expenses. * Foster strong teamwork and quality service through daily communication with other departments, including other kitchen areas, food and beverage, maintenance, and front-of-house. * Engage with guests to ensure satisfaction, interact with vendors for optimal supply procurement, and assist with health department and regulatory agency interactions. * Prepare and serve high-quality dishes using fresh ingredients, reflecting the outlet's culinary style. * Monitor food preparation methods, portion sizes, and garnishing to ensure consistent quality. * Approve all dishes before they leave the kitchen. * Estimate food consumption and manage food and supply orders. * Develop specialty dishes and contribute to innovative menu creation. * Establish and enforce kitchen hygiene standards. * Develop and participate in training activities to enhance team skills and knowledge. * Actively contribute to the well-being, safety, and development of kitchen staff through guidance and constructive feedback. * Assist in developing and maintaining kitchen policies, procedures, and performance standards, ensuring regular reviews. * Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment and ensure all equipment is in working order. * Maintain a professional and well-groomed appearance. * Adhere to occupational health and safety regulations and procedures. * Familiarize oneself with property safety, first aid, and emergency procedures. * Take initiative to address hazardous situations and report potential dangers. * Document security incidents and accidents according to established procedures. * Perform additional duties as assigned, including assisting team members during peak periods.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Diploma or degree in Culinary Arts. * Minimum of one year of experience in a similar role, or significant experience as a Chef de Partie. * Previous experience working in a hospitality setting is a plus. * Ability to work flexible hours, including rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. * Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with guests, colleagues, and external parties.
