Description

We are seeking a motivated and skilled culinary professional to join our kitchen team as a Junior Sous Chef. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with senior chefs, contribute to the smooth operation of the kitchen, and further develop your culinary and leadership abilities. You will play a key part in ensuring the consistent preparation of high-quality dishes and mentoring junior kitchen staff.

Responsibilities and Duties

* Oversee food preparation, ensuring all dishes are made according to established recipes and the guidance of the Head Chef or Sous Chef. * Assist in managing the kitchen by guiding junior team members like Demi Chef de Parties and Commis chefs, ensuring efficient and accurate food preparation. * Contribute to menu planning by participating in ingredient selection, recipe development, and maintaining the highest standards of dish quality. * Manage kitchen inventory, including counting and properly storing food items, and assisting with ordering necessary supplies. * Help maintain kitchen equipment by ensuring tools and machines are clean and sanitized, and reporting any malfunctions to senior chefs. * Uphold strict food safety and sanitation protocols within the kitchen, including proper food handling and storage, equipment cleanliness, and adherence to health guidelines. * Maintain quality control by monitoring dishes during preparation and service to ensure they meet our established standards. * Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, such as Demi Chef de Parties and Commis chefs, supporting their culinary skill development. * Communicate effectively and regularly with all kitchen staff, including the Head Chef and Sous Chef, to ensure seamless kitchen operations. * Be prepared to step in and assume the responsibilities of the Head Chef or Sous Chef when required.

Qualifications and Requirements

* Excellent culinary skills and a strong passion for food. * Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding kitchen environment. * Demonstrated leadership potential and the ability to guide and motivate junior team members. * Solid understanding of food preparation techniques and recipe adherence. * Experience with inventory management and kitchen supply ordering. * Knowledge of and commitment to maintaining high food safety and sanitation standards. * A keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality control in food preparation and presentation. * Strong communication and teamwork skills. * A proactive attitude and a willingness to take on increasing responsibilities.
