Description
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Chef de Partie to join our culinary team. This role involves expertly planning, preparing, and cooking menu items according to the guidance of senior chefs. The ideal candidate will also contribute to menu development, ensuring efficient service and high-quality food preparation and delivery for our guests. This position requires someone who can instruct and guide other cooks, manage their section effectively, maintain impeccable hygiene and safety standards, and actively contribute to a positive and efficient kitchen environment.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Plan, prepare, and cook menu items as instructed by the Sous Chef or Head Chef. * Assist in the creation and planning of menus, incorporating emerging culinary trends and innovative service styles. * Ensure swift and effective service for customers through timely food preparation and delivery. * Demonstrate and teach food preparation and cooking techniques to other cooks. * Compile all food orders for their designated section, ensuring food quality and cost align with establishment standards. * Verify and record stock, deliveries, and wastage in accordance with established food standards. * Execute and maintain standardized recipes, cooking methods, and presentation styles to guarantee consistency. * Maintain a working knowledge of food costing, sales trends, and menu planning principles. * Implement controls to minimize waste of food and supplies, as well as prevent pilferage. * Ensure consistently high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and safety across all kitchen areas. * Conduct stocktaking of ingredients, utensils, supplies, and equipment within their specific work section. * Ensure that food storage areas are maintained according to the kitchen's hygiene, health, and safety regulations. * Take responsibility for personal development and attend required training sessions or courses. * Promote and support safe work practices and a safe working environment at all times.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Proven experience in planning, preparing, and cooking a variety of menu items in a professional kitchen setting. * A good understanding of menu development and current food trends is desirable. * Ability to work efficiently and contribute to prompt customer service. * Demonstrated ability to instruct and guide other kitchen staff. * Experience in managing a specific kitchen section and ensuring quality and cost control. * Understanding of stock management, deliveries, and waste control procedures. * Proficiency in executing standardized recipes, cooking techniques, and presentation styles. * Basic knowledge of food costing, sales mix, and menu planning is advantageous. * A strong commitment to minimizing waste and adhering to control measures. * Thorough understanding and application of high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and safety in the kitchen. * Experience in conducting stock takes of ingredients and equipment. * Knowledge of and adherence to food storage hygiene, health, and safety policies. * A willingness to learn and develop professionally. * Commitment to supporting and maintaining a safe working environment.
