Kitchen Assistant

Responsibilities and Duties

* Assist with fundamental food preparation, such as chopping vegetables, preparing salads, and portioning ingredients. * Follow detailed instructions from chefs for more complex preparatory tasks. * Clean and sanitize all kitchen surfaces, equipment, and tools on a regular basis. * Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans promptly and thoroughly. * Maintain cleanliness in storage areas, including refrigerators and pantries. * Help organize and replenish kitchen supplies and ingredients. * Monitor inventory levels and notify the kitchen manager of any shortages or expired items. * Assist in the plating and presentation of dishes during service. * Keep kitchen workstations organized and tidy. * Perform additional tasks as assigned by kitchen staff or management. * Adhere to all health and safety regulations and guidelines within the kitchen. * Ensure proper handling and storage of food to prevent contamination. * Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel immediately.

Qualifications and Requirements

* Previous experience in a kitchen or food service setting is helpful, but not essential. * Basic understanding of food preparation and kitchen hygiene practices. * Ability to follow directions and collaborate effectively within a team. * Strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail. * Physical endurance to handle extended periods of standing, lifting, and moving items.
