Description
As a Junior Sous Chef in our Italian dining establishment, you will play a vital role in supporting all kitchen functions. This includes managing inventory, assisting in the direction of kitchen personnel, and expertly preparing our delicious Italian dishes. Your contributions will be key to creating memorable dining experiences for every guest who visits our hotel.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Help in the strategic planning for future staffing needs within the kitchen. * Assist with the recruitment process, adhering to established guidelines. * Develop detailed onboarding programs for new kitchen team members. * Contribute to the upkeep of a thorough, current, and guest-focused set of departmental standards and procedures, and help ensure their consistent application. * Support the analysis of training requirements for kitchen staff and the design and implementation of training programs to address those needs. * Provide input for probationary reviews and formal performance evaluations in line with company guidelines. * Coach, mentor, and address performance issues with staff, offering constructive feedback to improve their skills. * Maintain regular communication with the kitchen team and foster positive working relationships. * Assist in creating efficient work schedules that comply with local labor regulations. * Develop innovative new dishes and culinary products. * Ensure the maintenance of exceptional culinary technical skills within the team. * Assist in the organization of special events and promotional food activities. * Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all products, including ingredients, equipment, suppliers, market trends, and make recommendations for appropriate adjustments to kitchen operations as needed. * Assist in the preparation of the departmental budget. * Help in monitoring and controlling departmental expenses.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Possess basic academic qualifications (e.g., secondary school leaving certificate) or a vocational/professional certificate in Culinary Skills or an equivalent qualification. * Be motivated, friendly, and maintain high standards of personal hygiene. * Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and guide colleagues.
