Sous Chef

Description

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Chef (Local Cuisine) to handle daily kitchen operations focused on local dishes. This role is based in a hospitality setting such as a hotel coffee house or restaurant, and it requires someone who takes pride in food quality, hygiene standards, and team collaboration. You will also play a key role in creating festive menus and supporting ongoing culinary innovation.

Responsibilities and Duties

*Prepare and cook local dishes in accordance with established quality and presentation standards *Ensure proper handling, storage, and minimal wastage of ingredients *Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the kitchen workspace *Support the creation of new dishes, seasonal items, and buffet menus *Monitor food production to align with portion control and cost-efficiency targets *Work closely with the Executive Chef and provide updates as required *Assist with other tasks or duties as directed by the management

Qualifications and Requirements

*Open to Singaporeans and Permanent Residents only *Minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar kitchen role, preferably in a hotel or restaurant setting *Possesses formal culinary training or relevant food preparation certifications *Able to work independently and also collaborate well within a kitchen team *Willing to work on rotational shifts, including weekends and public holidays *Strong communication and interpersonal skills *Adheres strictly to hygiene, safety, and food handling standards *Committed to a 5-day work week schedule with flexibility for shift work
