Sous Chef

Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Sous Chef to join our culinary team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in cooking techniques and a keen interest in maintaining high standards in food preparation and kitchen hygiene. You will be involved in daily food production, support junior kitchen staff, and contribute to recipe innovation, all while ensuring consistency in quality and efficiency in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities and Duties

*Prepare and cook dishes according to standard recipes, ensuring consistent taste, portioning, and visual presentation *Assist in food preparation for multiple outlets, ensuring orders are accurate and timely *Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, strictly following food hygiene and safety regulations *Oversee proper food storage, labeling, and stock rotation to ensure freshness and reduce waste *Guide and support junior kitchen team members, such as commis chefs and assistants *Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any faults immediately to supervisors *Participate in the development and testing of new recipes under the direction of senior chefs *Monitor portion control, food quality, and presentation in line with company expectations *Follow all kitchen policies and procedures to maintain operational consistency *Carry out other kitchen duties as assigned by the Sous Chef or Head Chef

Qualifications and Requirements

*Prior experience as a Chef Sous or a Senior Commis Chef in a high-volume or central kitchen setting *Relevant culinary certification or diploma in food preparation or kitchen operations *Good knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, and plating techniques *Strong knife skills and attention to detail *Able to multitask and work under pressure while meeting deadlines *Highly organized with good time management skills *Effective communicator with a positive team spirit *Familiar with kitchen safety standards and food hygiene practices *Passionate about food and committed to delivering high-quality dishes
