Junior Sous Chef

Description

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Junior Sous Chef to join our culinary team. Working under the guidance of the Head Chef or Sous Chef, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our kitchen, maintaining high culinary standards, and mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities and Duties

Culinary Supervision and Execution: Oversee food preparation, ensuring all dishes are prepared according to recipes and the instructions of senior chefs. Maintain quality control by monitoring dishes during preparation and service, ensuring they meet our restaurant's standards. Kitchen Management and Team Leadership: Assist in managing the kitchen by supervising junior staff, including Demi Chef de Parties and Commis Chefs, ensuring efficient and accurate food preparation. Train junior staff, helping them develop their culinary skills. Communicate regularly with all kitchen staff to ensure smooth operations. Menu and Inventory Management: Contribute to menu planning, including ingredient selection and recipe creation. Manage inventory, including counting and storing food items, and ordering kitchen supplies. Operational Maintenance and Compliance: Assist in maintaining kitchen equipment by cleaning and sanitizing tools and machines, and reporting any defects. Ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation protocols, including proper food handling, storage, and equipment cleaning.

Qualifications and Requirements

Proven experience in a professional kitchen environment. Strong culinary skills and a passion for food. Ability to supervise and train junior staff. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
