Description

This Sales Manager role is responsible for all local sales activities, accounts, and meetings, working strategically to achieve hotel revenue targets. This individual will employ creative approaches to contribute to a successful hotel sales strategy, focusing on building relationships and maximizing business opportunities.

Responsibilities and Duties

* Monitors competitor activities and contributes to gathering market intelligence to share with the sales team. * Understands sales strategies and goals and negotiates optimal rates for the benefit of the business during sales interactions. * Promotes all aspects of the hotel to maximize revenue growth opportunities. * Monitors existing business and contributes to sales strategy meetings to identify and capitalize on opportunities. * Expands existing business and actively pursues all future business opportunities. * Initiates and prepares tenders for new business. * Analyzes sales data to inform strategy. * Collaborates with the leadership team in preparing and managing the Sales & Marketing budget. * Assists in developing the annual departmental operating budget. * Monitors the sales budget and manages expenses. * Works collaboratively with team members across all departments. * Manages key accounts. * Travels as needed to promote the hotel and develop potential business opportunities. * Maintains regular communication with cluster sales and marketing team members to stay informed about relevant initiatives. * Promotes high service standards within the hotel through training and leading by example. * Ensures all colleagues are aligned with brand service standards. * Communicates with operational departments regarding current and future customer needs. * Adheres to brand service standards when interacting with internal and external customers. * Services existing business through effective account management. * Maintains an accurate and up-to-date database of clients and contacts. * Responds to guest feedback promptly and takes corrective action to resolve concerns, collaborating with other departments to prevent recurrence. * Supports loyalty programs through proactive enrollment efforts and ensures accurate crediting of rewards points. * Develops and maintains relationships with business generators, meeting and convention planners, tourism bureaus, travel agents, tour operators, airlines, corporate accounts, government departments, and other relevant business partners. * Builds a professional presence within the local market through attendance at relevant events. * Entertains clients to maximize business opportunities. * Supports and participates in familiarization tours, site inspections, and sales visits with other sales and marketing team members. * Assists with the development of new products and services. * Contributes to the evaluation of sales and marketing activities. * Analyzes sales mix and its potential impact on hotel objectives. * Maintains a well-organized filing system (both physical and digital). * Ensures a safe and secure environment for guests, team members, and hotel assets in accordance with established policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. * Develops and implements action plans to promote environmental sustainability and reduce the hotel's environmental impact. * Manages the hotel budget and expenses responsibly, obtaining necessary approvals when required.

Qualifications and Requirements

* A degree or diploma in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is often preferred. * Prior experience in hotel sales is usually required. * Strong communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills. * Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. * Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as CRM and property management systems.
