Retail Business Controller

Description

This role is critical for the financial success of a specific retail banner within the Southeast Asia region. The Retail Business Controller will be responsible for all aspects of the banner's financial performance, from budgeting and forecasting to financial analysis and reporting. This position requires a highly analytical and results-oriented individual with strong financial acumen and a deep understanding of the retail industry.

Responsibilities and Duties

* Develop and manage the retail banner's budget and forecasts in alignment with corporate guidelines. * Conduct monthly financial closures for both managerial and statutory purposes, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and procedures. * Analyze monthly financial results, identify variances, and present findings to key stakeholders, including the General Manager, Regional CFO, and corporate leadership. * Monitor store-level performance and assess the feasibility of new store openings and lease contract renewals. * Manage capital expenditures (Capex) investments and oversee store portfolio planning and control. * Manage cash flow projections, working capital, banking facilities, and all banking matters related to the retail banner. * Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal control systems in collaboration with relevant departments (e.g., APAC GBS, legal, internal audit). * Prepare weekly reports on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as net sales and topline revenue. * **Business Partnering:** * Support the business in developing short-term and long-term goals, development plans, and process improvement initiatives. * Partner with the Commercial Head and other department heads to develop and implement business strategies, financial models, and identify new revenue streams and strategic partnerships. * Assist the Commercial Head in cost control efforts and evaluate the financial impact of business decisions. * Analyze periodic actual performance, update forecasted performance, and provide insights to inform business decisions.

Qualifications and Requirements

* Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Management, or a related field. * Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience within Accounting, Controlling, or Consulting. * Strong financial background with specific experience in the retail industry is essential. * Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions. * Proficiency in SAP FI/CO, HFM, Oracle Planning, Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel required), and business intelligence (BI) tools is a plus. * Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to various stakeholders. * Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals. * Ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities. * A proactive and results-oriented approach with a strong drive to achieve financial targets. * Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently. * Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
