Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to oversee kitchen operations and manage food preparation for the residents/clients and staff within our care home. This role is central to ensuring the timely and proper preparation of nutritious meals while adhering to the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of kitchen management, from scheduling and cooking to inventory control and staff supervision.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Manage all aspects of kitchen operations, including creating schedules, planning menus, and overseeing food preparation. * Ensure that all food is prepared appropriately for residents/clients and staff. * Guarantee the timely delivery of meals and snacks according to the established daily schedule (breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner). * Maintain strict compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations, ensuring consistently high levels of cleanliness and sanitation. * Regularly inspect kitchen equipment, inventory, and work areas to ensure safety and cleanliness standards are met. * Manage kitchen inventory, monitor food costs, and adhere to a set budget. * Supervise, manage, and provide training to new kitchen staff members. * Perform any other duties as required by the Manager or Management.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Diploma in Culinary Arts, Food & Beverage Management, or a related field of study. * A minimum of four years of practical experience in kitchen or restaurant settings, or within the broader food and beverage industry. * Previous work experience cooking within a nursing home or healthcare environment would be considered a significant advantage. * Comprehensive understanding of food preparation standards and relevant certification requirements. * Excellent skills in cooking and food presentation, with a keen eye for detail. * Thorough knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations. * Experience in preparing a variety of cuisines, with knowledge of Chinese, Malay, and Western styles being a plus. * Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite. * Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational abilities. * Good command of the English language, both in spoken and written forms. * Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
