Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sous Chef to support the Executive Chef in leading our kitchen team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee kitchen staff, contribute to menu planning and inventory management, and ensure the consistent delivery of top-quality food in a well-maintained and safe environment. Your expertise will be crucial in upholding our culinary standards and fostering a productive kitchen atmosphere.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Support the Executive Chef in developing and refining recipes and food preparation techniques to ensure consistently high quality and manage food costs effectively, including portion control and assisting with menu pricing. * Assist the Executive Chef in maintaining consistently high standards in all food production. * Help the Executive Chef implement controls to minimize waste of food and supplies. * Contribute to the budget preparation by providing necessary data for your areas of responsibility, projecting annual food costs, and taking corrective actions to meet financial goals. * Schedule and coordinate the work of kitchen staff to ensure efficient and technically sound food preparation. * Assist the Executive Chef in creating menus for special events that align with promotional activities. * Support the Executive Chef in training kitchen staff on safety, sanitation, and accident prevention. * Ensure that the highest standards of cleanliness and sanitation are consistently maintained throughout all kitchen areas. * Maintain a professional appearance, adhering to the required protective clothing guidelines. * Personally cook or directly supervise the preparation of dishes requiring advanced culinary skills. * Evaluate food products to consistently meet established quality standards. * Assist the Executive Chef in developing and implementing training programs for kitchen staff. * Contribute to the professional growth and development of kitchen team members. * Maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with all colleagues. * Participate in all required team briefings. * Assist with the monthly physical inventory count of restaurant items, including plates and utensils. * Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
* A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in a kitchen environment. * Experience within the food and beverage industry is highly advantageous. * Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities. * Demonstrated servant leadership and strong problem-solving skills. * Enthusiastic, resilient, and a strong team player. * Pleasant and professional demeanor. * Good communication and interpersonal skills. * Knowledge of Spanish cuisine and desserts is required.
