Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sous Chef to support our Executive Chef in leading our kitchen team. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in overseeing kitchen staff, contributing to menu planning and inventory management, and ensuring the consistent delivery of top-quality food in a clean and safe environment. You will be a key player in maintaining our culinary standards and fostering a productive kitchen atmosphere.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Support the Executive Chef in developing and refining recipes and food preparation techniques to ensure consistently high quality and manage food costs effectively, including portion control and contributing to menu pricing. * Help the Executive Chef maintain standardized, high-quality food production on an ongoing basis. * Assist in establishing and implementing controls to minimize food and supply waste. * Contribute to the budget preparation process by providing necessary data, projecting annual food costs, and taking corrective actions to help achieve financial targets. * Schedule and coordinate the work of all kitchen staff to ensure efficient and technically sound food preparation. * Assist the Executive Chef in creating menus for special events, aligning with the establishment's promotions. * Support the Executive Chef in training kitchen staff on safety, sanitation, and accident prevention principles to enhance their knowledge. * Ensure that consistently high standards of sanitation and cleanliness are maintained throughout all kitchen areas. * Maintain a professional appearance, adhering to the required protective clothing guidelines. * Personally cook or directly supervise the preparation of dishes requiring advanced culinary skills. * Evaluate food products to ensure consistent adherence to quality standards. * Assist the Executive Chef in developing and delivering training programs for kitchen staff. * Support the Executive Chef in the professional growth and development of kitchen team members. * Foster positive and professional working relationships with all colleagues. * Participate in all required team briefings. * Assist with the monthly physical inventory count of restaurant items, including tableware and utensils. * Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
* A minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience in a kitchen environment. * Previous experience in the food and beverage industry is highly advantageous. * Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. * Demonstrated servant leadership and problem-solving abilities. * Enthusiastic, resilient, and a strong team player. * Pleasant and professional demeanor. * Good interpersonal skills. * Knowledge and experience with Spanish cuisine and desserts.
