Sous Chef (Pastry)

We are seeking an experienced Pastry Sous Chef to support the Executive Pastry Chef in producing high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods. Based in Orchard, this role involves overseeing pastry operations, maintaining consistency and creativity, managing the pastry team, and contributing to menu development. Responsibilities and Duties

* Supervise the pastry kitchen team in preparing and executing desserts and baked goods * Assist in developing new pastry menus and innovative creations * Ensure presentation, taste, and quality meet high standards * Train, mentor, and evaluate pastry staff performance * Manage pastry inventory and ingredient ordering * Maintain cleanliness and compliance with food safety regulations * Monitor food costs and labour expenses within the pastry section * Support hiring and onboarding of pastry staff * Handle special dietary requests such as gluten-free or dairy-free items * Stay updated with pastry trends and techniques

Qualifications and Requirements

* Minimum 5 years of pastry experience, preferably in a high-volume environment * Proven ability to supervise and train a pastry team * Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred * Strong knowledge of baking and pastry techniques and presentation * Passion for pastry arts with creativity and attention to detail * Good understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
