Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Sous Chef to take on a vital second-in-command role within our kitchen, working closely with the Head Chef to uphold our culinary standards. The successful candidate will leverage their culinary expertise and leadership abilities to ensure consistently exceptional dining experiences for our guests. This role requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and team management, capable of stepping in to guide the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Lead and collaborate effectively within the kitchen team. * Ensure guests consistently receive a high-quality dining experience that reflects excellent value. * Verify that all recipes and product yields are accurately costed and regularly reviewed. * Ensure all food preparations adhere strictly to standard recipe guidelines, with careful attention to portion control and minimizing waste. * Strictly adhere to and enforce all sanitation regulations and safety standards within the kitchen. * Provide informed recommendations to the Head Chef regarding staff development and be prepared to oversee food preparation planning and direction when needed. * Supervise all stewarding staff and their tasks within the culinary department. * Ensure that weekly work schedules and annual leave plans are properly managed and documented. * Initiate necessary maintenance reports and work orders, ensuring appropriate follow-up on completed actions. * Collaborate closely with the Operations Manager and relevant teams, gathering guest feedback to drive continuous improvement and development. * Foster a positive, safe, and productive working environment for all kitchen employees.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Must possess a minimum of 4 to 5 years of relevant experience in either Western or European culinary practices. * Must have completed a Basic Food Hygiene course. * Demonstrated fair and firm management skills with strong influencing abilities. * Creative and innovative approach to culinary arts. * Hands-on attitude towards all aspects of kitchen operations. * Excellent communication skills and basic computer literacy. * Proactive and self-motivated work ethic. * Strong potential for training and coaching team members. * Ability to work on weekends and public holidays, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. * Candidates with more extensive experience may be considered for a senior Sous Chef position.
