Description
The Head Chef leads the culinary operations of an authentic Italian restaurant, overseeing food preparation, staff development, and menu innovation. Responsibilities and Duties
- Train, develop, and motivate kitchen staff to meet and exceed established culinary standards. - Teach preparation methods according to defined recipes, encouraging continuous improvement in cuisine quality. - Lead daily kitchen operations and ensure smooth coordination between stations. - Demonstrate strong knowledge in traditional Italian food and hand-made pizza. - Maintain a positive and professional work environment through effective leadership and communication. - Provide clear direction, delegate tasks appropriately, and monitor performance of all culinary staff. - Ensure consistent food quality, presentation, and portion control. - Develop new menu items and maintain accurate costing for all dishes. - Oversee food purchasing, receiving, and storage to ensure quality and compliance. - Uphold food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards according to regulatory requirements. - Maintain all kitchen equipment in proper working condition. - Manage staffing levels and scheduling to meet operational and financial targets. - Interact with guests for feedback on food quality, presentation, and service. - Respond effectively to guest complaints and take corrective actions when necessary. - Review food cost and labor reports to ensure efficiency and profitability. - Enforce safety procedures and ensure all kitchen staff maintain required certifications.
Qualifications and Requirements
- education: Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or related field preferred - experience: Minimum 6 years in professional kitchen management, preferably in Italian fine dining - Expertise in Italian cuisine and handmade pizza - Strong leadership, communication, and organizational abilities - Proven ability to manage costs and maintain high culinary standards - Attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction - Ability to train, mentor, and motivate a diverse kitchen team - Valid Food Hygiene and Safety certifications required
