Description
We are looking for a dedicated Assistant Chef to support both sushi and hot kitchen operations. This role requires hands-on experience in Japanese cuisine, assisting with sushi preparation, hot dishes, and overall kitchen duties to ensure smooth operations and consistent food quality. Responsibilities and Duties
* Assist in preparing sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes under the Head Chef’s guidance * Support hot kitchen operations including grilling, frying, and plating * Maintain consistency in preparation, presentation, and flavor of dishes * Prepare mise en place and ingredients according to daily prep lists * Ensure cleanliness and organization of kitchen areas in line with hygiene regulations * Uphold food safety standards, including proper storage and labeling of ingredients * Support receiving and checking deliveries for quality and freshness * Collaborate with kitchen and service staff for smooth operations * Adapt to various sushi and hot kitchen stations as needed * Contribute to a positive and professional kitchen environment
Qualifications and Requirements
* Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in Japanese cuisine (sushi and hot food) * Proficiency in basic sushi handling, knife skills, and food preparation * Experience working in a fast-paced kitchen environment * Completed Basic Food Hygiene course * Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and consistency * Willingness to work weekends and public holidays * Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions * Positive attitude and eagerness to learn from senior chefs
