Sous Chef

Description

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join a busy restaurant near Farrer Park. The role involves supporting the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations, supervising staff, ensuring food quality, and maintaining hygiene standards. Responsibilities and Duties

* Assist the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations and smooth service * Supervise, guide, and train kitchen staff on cooking techniques and food presentation * Prepare and cook dishes to meet customer expectations and company standards * Ensure compliance with food hygiene, safety, and Halal/SFA regulations * Support menu planning, recipe development, and cost management * Oversee food stock, inventory, and ordering to minimize wastage * Maintain cleanliness and organization in kitchen areas * Step in for the Head Chef during absences and support catering or event functions

Qualifications and Requirements

* Minimum 5 years of relevant kitchen experience, including Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie roles * Diploma/Certificate in Culinary Arts preferred * Valid Food Hygiene Certificate required * Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills * Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and Halal compliance * Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment * Creativity in developing new dishes and improving recipes
