A well-established organization is seeking talented individuals to join their expanding team in a Sous Chef capacity, based in a central location. This role offers a permanent position within a dynamic environment. The successful candidate will play a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen, with a particular emphasis on adhering to specific dietary certification standards for a diverse range of clientele and events. This position requires a culinary professional with experience in managing food preparation for both intimate gatherings and large-scale functions.

Responsibilities and Duties

* Ensure all food prepared within the kitchen meets stringent dietary certification requirements, especially for guest dining and organized events. * Contribute to the creation, preparation, and execution of menus tailored for various occasions, ranging from extensive banquets to smaller corporate meetings. * Supervise the activities involved in food preparation and cooking to guarantee consistent quality in food presentation and taste. * Collaborate with the Head Chef on planning menus, developing recipes, and introducing innovative food concepts that appeal to a diverse customer base. * Work alongside banquet and event teams to understand specific needs and adjust food production schedules accordingly. * Oversee the kitchen team during events to ensure efficient workflow, timely food service, and consistent quality, particularly during busy periods. * Work closely with catering personnel to strictly maintain adherence to all dietary requirements. * Assist in guiding, mentoring, and training junior chefs and kitchen staff, ensuring their understanding of specific food preparation standards and hygiene practices. * Ensure the kitchen operates effectively and that all team members perform their duties to the highest standards. * Provide leadership and direction to the kitchen team in the absence of the Head Chef, managing staff and delegating tasks as necessary. * Ensure the kitchen complies with all regulations related to food safety, hygiene, and specific dietary certifications, including the separate handling, storage, and preparation of ingredients. * Monitor the cleanliness of the kitchen, ensuring it meets the highest sanitation levels and that all team members follow proper hygiene protocols. * Conduct regular checks of kitchen equipment, inventory, and workspaces to maintain a safe and hygienic working environment. * Assist in managing the kitchen's inventory, ensuring that all necessary ingredients are stocked, fresh, and ready for use. * Monitor food costs and help manage the kitchen budget to ensure cost-effectiveness without sacrificing quality. * Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality, certified ingredients and maintain positive relationships with vendors.

Qualifications and Requirements

* Diploma or Degree in Culinary Arts, Food & Beverage Management, or a related field of study. * A minimum of four to six years of experience working as a chef in a kitchen with specific dietary certifications, with experience in banquet and large-scale event catering being a plus. * Comprehensive understanding of specific food preparation standards and certification requirements. * Demonstrated experience in leading a kitchen team and managing food production for significant events. * Excellent skills in cooking and food presentation, with a keen eye for detail. * Knowledge of regulations pertaining to food safety and hygiene. * Ability to perform effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks concurrently.
