Kitchen Assistant

We are seeking a meticulous and proactive individual to support the smooth operation of our Nutrition Food Science facilities. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the orderliness and hygiene of the food laboratory and preparation areas, assisting with the preparation of ingredients for lessons, and providing essential administrative support to the teaching staff. Responsibilities and Duties

* Ensure the food lab (kitchen) and preparation room are consistently tidy and well-organized. This includes washing and drying cleaning cloths, aprons, and food science equipment. * Organize and tidy student workstations, including tabletops, drawers, and sinks, after each lesson and handle other maintenance tasks for the NFS room. * Oversee the equipment and appliances within the NFS food lab (kitchen), requiring familiarity with food science equipment. * Assist in verifying that the main gas tap, electrical switches (oven), and knives are securely stored under lock and key. * Manage the preparation of ingredients for lessons, including tasks like cutting, weighing, and packing ingredients before class. * Organize ingredients and equipment in the kitchen, which includes repackaging items into appropriate storage areas (refrigerator, cupboards). * Operate some kitchen and food science equipment, such as handheld blenders, electric steamers, rice cookers, and refractometers. * Manage the process of receiving and checking food orders. * Provide support to all NFS teachers within the food lab (kitchen) at all times (excluding lunch breaks and scheduled breaks). * Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Requirements

* Preferably holds a Basic Food Hygiene or Food Handling Course Certificate. * Prior work experience in a school setting is advantageous. * Previous experience in food handling, kitchen environments, or basic administrative tasks is desirable. * Must be able to work efficiently and independently. * Only Singaporean citizens are eligible to apply.
