Description
This role is responsible for leading the sales team and driving revenue growth for a sheet metal fabrication job shop expanding into new overseas markets. The focus is on achieving sales targets, generating profitable leads, developing the sales team, and ensuring alignment with the organization's overall direction. This position offers an opportunity to enhance sales capabilities and contribute to the company's global expansion.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Achieve sales targets and drive profitable results through the sales team by providing motivation, counseling, skills development, and product knowledge training. - Manage the sales team to ensure their sales activities align with the organization's strategic direction, capabilities, and capacity. - Oversee the sales team's utilization of marketing tools, developing a comprehensive business plan encompassing sales strategies, presentations, revenue projections, and expense control, ensuring targets are met and promoting the organization's global presence. - Develop the annual marketing plan, providing input on realistic sales forecasts for each client (based on historical data, market trends, competitive activity, promotional strategies, and sales efforts) and realistic sales force operating costs. - Ensure all sales representative activities comply with established organizational guidelines. - Monitor sales team performance through a system of reports and communication, including sales reports and regular sales meetings. - Develop and implement a performance appraisal system with key performance indicators (KPIs) for individual sales team members. - Provide regular coaching and training to individual salespeople, observing their performance and teaching effective sales techniques. - Generate new contacts and develop new business opportunities to benefit the organization. - Manage the sales team's trade accounts receivable, ensuring minimal to no bad debts. - Approve individual sales costing against pre-set bill of materials (BOM) targets, controlling expenditures relative to sales revenue. - Submit timely monthly sales forecasts compared against actual performance. - Submit sales purchase budgets for special projects exceeding expected amounts. - Execute tasks assigned by the General Manager. - Perform other ad-hoc sales or marketing assignments as directed by supervisors.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Three to five years of sales experience in sheet metal or engineering within sectors such as construction, food and beverage equipment, laboratory furniture, or office signage. - Experience in overseas sales is advantageous. - A minimum qualification of a Business or Marketing Diploma. - Understanding of product costing and its impact on sales. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Experience in business-to-business (B2B) sales. - Excellent time management, prioritization skills, and the ability to work independently. - Ability to work a five-day work week and complete daily priorities within the workday. - Open to citizens and permanent residents.
