Description

This critical role requires a highly skilled and experienced individual to manage and maintain our Linux server infrastructure. The Senior Linux Systems Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and optimal performance of our Linux-based systems, supporting critical business operations.

Responsibilities and Duties

* Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (physical and virtual) using Red Hat and other major distributions. * Manage and optimize server performance, including resource allocation, capacity planning, and troubleshooting. * Implement and maintain high availability solutions, including failover/clustering configurations. * Provide technical support and solutions for infrastructure and application development projects requiring Linux infrastructure. * Configure and manage log rotation systems for efficient log analysis and troubleshooting. * Manage data using Logical Volume Management (LVM) for efficient storage allocation and management. * Troubleshoot system issues using native tools like `sar` (System Activity Report) and analyze system logs for potential problems. * Understand and utilize system information tools like `dmesg` and `dmi` for system diagnostics. * Configure and manage network settings, including VLANs, bonding, and link aggregation. * Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls. * Manage user accounts, permissions, and security policies to ensure system security. * Manage and administer VMware ESXi servers and virtual environments. * Manage multiple ESXi servers through vCenter for centralized administration and control. * Manage and maintain storage area networks (SANs), network-attached storage (NAS), and other storage solutions. * Develop and implement scripts (Perl, Bash, Python) to automate system administration tasks, improve efficiency, and reduce manual effort. * Basic understanding of SQL and experience with databases like MySQL and PostgreSQL.

Qualifications and Requirements

* 5+ years of hands-on experience as a Linux System Administrator. * Proven experience with Linux distributions (e.g., Red Hat, CentOS, Ubuntu). * Strong understanding of Linux system administration concepts, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting. * Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python). * Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware ESXi, vCenter). * Working knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP). * Experience with storage technologies (SAN, NAS, RAID). * Familiarity with system monitoring and logging tools. * Basic understanding of SQL and database concepts. * Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. * Strong attention to detail and accuracy. * Ability to work independently and as part of a team. * Excellent communication and documentation skills.
