Description
We’re on the lookout for a dedicated and experienced Sous Chef who specializes in Indian cuisine to join a fast-paced and vibrant culinary team. This role demands a balance of creativity, consistency, and leadership. You’ll be instrumental in curating exceptional dishes while supporting a smooth kitchen operation across all meal periods. Your focus will be on maintaining high culinary standards, guiding the kitchen team, and contributing to a clean, cost-effective, and efficient back-of-house environment. Responsibilities and Duties
*Lead the preparation and execution of traditional and modern Indian dishes with precision and creativity *Collaborate on menu planning and food presentation to align with brand standards and customer preferences *Conduct taste tests and visual checks to ensure food meets quality, temperature, and portioning standards *Organize daily kitchen operations and coordinate shift schedules for kitchen team members *Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with procurement to minimize food waste and control costs *Document recipes, special events, and new dish rollouts with photos and detailed notes *Host daily team briefings to align goals, assign duties, and maintain smooth service flow *Train and support junior staff to maintain consistency in food preparation and service *Oversee kitchen hygiene practices and ensure strict compliance with food safety regulations *Collaborate with hygiene and stewarding teams to maintain a clean and well-organized workspace *Perform regular equipment checks and liaise with maintenance teams to ensure all tools are in working condition *Maintain records of kitchen activities and contribute ideas for improvement and innovation *Respond promptly to feedback—both compliments and complaints—resolving issues with professionalism *Support broader culinary strategy and step into managerial duties as needed to maintain service excellence
Qualifications and Requirements
*A minimum of 5 years' experience in a professional kitchen, with at least 2 years in a Sous Chef position in a high-volume or upscale restaurant setting *Deep knowledge and hands-on experience with Indian cuisine and its various regional styles *Strong leadership skills and the ability to inspire, guide, and develop kitchen staff *Certified in Food Hygiene or equivalent food safety qualifications *Solid understanding of back-of-house systems, including inventory management and cost control *Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by business needs *Comfortable managing kitchen operations under pressure with a calm and efficient approach *Committed to excellence, with a keen eye for detail in food presentation and kitchen cleanliness
